About Me

I was born in Budapest in 1948. Drawing was already one of my favourite subjects at school, and it has stayed with me ever since. I learned the basics, including geometry, in the excellent drawing department at the Budapest University of Technology. Later, during summer holidays from my career as a civil engineer, ink drawing became my creative outlet.

I started painting in earnest when I retired, 16 years ago. My early mentors were the painters Zoltán Vágó and Klára Véghseő, followed by art teacher József Szalai. In more recent years, I have worked under the guidance of painters Lajos Horváth, Ágnes Harka and Tibor Sáska. I am currently working with painter Mária Turcsányi, who has given me the courage and confidence to explore new abstract paintings. I am grateful to them all for their advice and for the artistic and technical knowledge I have gained.

My paintings are inspired by the wonders of reality, and some of my abstract work is also nature-based. I instinctively seek silence and peace within my paintings.

So far I have had two solo exhibitions in Budapest: in 2015 at the Szentimreváros Association headquarters on Kende Street in the 11th district, and in 2017 in the lobby of the Cistercian Grammar School on Villányi Road. I also regularly take part in group exhibitions with the painting circles I attend, showing three to five paintings several times a year in Budapest, Alsóörs, Tapolca, Balatonarács and Ajka. Most recently, I have also begun painting portraits on commission.
